Question: Q: Dim video using Facetime HD camera My video is very dim using the built-in camera on my iMac, both for me and my friend at the other end of the call. This is a recent problem. Mar 24, 2020 In running Windows - the camera shows the green light on but the screen is black/blank. I realised this on Teams. I then checked the Camera App and ditto - green light - no picture. I removed Teams from my Windows 10 side and installed it on the MacOS side - camera works perfectly. There's no picture in PhotoBooth, FaceTime.app, or meeting software like zoom.us. Restarting in Recovery mode and using FirstAid in the Disk Utility used to resuscitate the camera, but after a couple uses, launching an app that accesses the camera would result in nothing but a black picture and no green indicator light. If your Mac is connected to multiple cameras, microphones, or output devices, you can choose which one to use for your FaceTime audio and video calls.
In the FaceTime app on your Mac, choose one of the following from the Video menu.
Choose Use System Setting for your microphone or output device.
If you select this, FaceTime uses the audio devices set in the Output or Input pane of Sound preferences. For more details, see Change the sound output settings or Change the sound input settings.

If there aren't any devices listed in the Video menu, FaceTime uses the built-in camera, microphone, and speakers. See Use the built-in camera.
Apple continuously improves the iPhone's front-facing camera, but the company's laptop webcams seem frozen in time, somewhere deep in the last decade. The Wall Street Journal's Joanna Stern made a video comparing the webcam in the just-released MacBook Air against webcams in the Dell XPS 13, the Google Pixelbook Go, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3, and her elderly 2010 MacBook Pro. The Surface Laptop 3 and especially the Pixelbook Go easily bested the MacBook Air, with the XPS 13 bringing up the rear. Even the 2010 MacBook Pro's 1280-by-1024 iSight camera performed better than the 2020 MacBook Air's 720p FaceTime HD camera (1280-by-720 resolution) in some circumstances. None of them hold a candle to an iPhone 11's front-facing TrueDepth camera, which provides a whopping 12 megapixels of resolution and can record 4K video at 60 frames per second. Vst recording software.
Why are laptop webcams still so bad? Laptop lids are much thinner than most phones and tablets, people don't tend to take selfies with a laptop, and hardware designers may assume that anyone who really cares will attach an external webcam. But with so many people now working and socializing via videoconferencing due to COVID-19 precautions and stay-at-home orders, we hope Apple improves its webcams for future laptop models. Besides, how are we going to get Face ID in a laptop without a TrueDepth camera system?
I have a MacBook Pro 13in (2011) running OS 10.6.8

Windows does not provide the driver for the Facetime HD camera driver.
I checked the OS X installation disk to see if their was a bootcamp driver for the camera, but only isight was on the disk. Installing the isight driver did not provide the driver for the Facetime HD camera.
Does anyone know where I can find this windows 7 driver? Is there an up-to-date bootcamp driver? Is there a known 'good' work around?

Thanks for your help.
